The Wet
Processing Technique
Here is a brief description of what goes on at the cement
works. It it an adapted version of the one found on the Lafarge website:

-
The raw materials are mixed with water to produce a slurry.
-
The slurry is pumped into large kilns where it is dried and
heated up 1400ºC as it passes through the kiln,
emerging as hydraulic calcium silicate, commonly known as clinker. This
clinker is cooled and ground together with gypsum to make cement.
-
The finished cement is stored in
silos ready for packing and distribution.
